Supernatural on The CW has continued to impress with it's viewership this past season. I can not believe how great this past season turned out to be. We had angel and demons, fallen angels, and even prophets come into play on a weekly basis. Dean had to make tough decisions and watch out for his younger brother Sam throughout the season. Sam was falling deeper and deeper into the dark world of stealing demonic power through drinking their blood. The two brothers clashed and struggled with one another in every episode in new and interesting ways. Heck, Dean had had to lock Sam in a basement just to detox the demonic possession! The turns and twists provided along the way show just how mature this cast and series have become over the course of four years. I cannot tell you enough how excited I am that the CW decided to give Supernatural their much deserved fifth season.
However there will be changes this new season. Supernatural will no longer run on Thursday nights beside its long time partner Smallville. I wonder how this will effect the viewership for these two great sci fi shows in the long run? They have done great side by side for so long I am a little saddened to see it come to an end. Who knows this may give Supernatural an opportunity to get more people interested in the series and prolong the drama that is so deeply ingrained in the Winchester Family.
One of the most intriguing stories this season involved Dean being brought back from hell. I remember watching the pilot thinking how in the world are they gonna explain this! They explained it with the help of Castil, an angel of the Lord who rescues Dean from Hell in order to have him do his bidding. I was stunned! The cast did an amazing job portraying the issues involved with the torment and horror Dean witnessed while in The Pit. I was setting on the edge of my seat the first few episodes wondering how they were going to show an Angel? Would they be more powerful than Demons? Can anything kill them? I would find out later that maybe they could be killed!
